Project Description

Patch

Patch, 7 year old Border Collie, 15kg, fostered in Oamaru
Patch came into our care from South Canterbury, his owners could no longer care for him.
He arrived very stressed. He was also lame. X-rays showed that he had an old knee injury with arthritis. Patch has started monthly Beransa injections, this has improved his quality of life greatly.
Patch is friendly meeting new people (loves pats) and dogs. He’s settled in with the other rescues here really well. Loves to play. He is lovely on the lead, good recall and travels well in the car. His previous owners said he lived with a cat, but we have not tested this ourselves.
He loves to run on the hills and makes a bee line to check out the gorse bush in the hope of finding a bunny. He will sometimes go a bit crazy chasing birds and bees.
Patch has separation anxiety. Initially he could not be left alone, he would pull down the curtains, destroy things, bark non stop, cannot be crated. He can now be left – but only for very short periods. We want someone that understands dog behaviour and that will continue to patiently work with him. Patch is a very sweet natured, adoring, devoted companion. Only seeking the best forever home for him. He sleeps on my bed or in the lounge with the other dogs. Housetrained.
