Project Description

Please read the following info carefully before getting in touch. Thank you

Mia 3 years old Lab/Collie, 23kg. Fostered in Oamaru.

Mia has some behavioural quirks that need managed by new owners that are happy to have a dog with special needs (she is not your average family dog when out and about).  She is lovely at home, but will take time to settle into a new home. When out walking if she sees another dog or person, she will get extremely excited (not aggressive), the foster carers have worked hard on this but new people will need to be ok to continue with it.
Needs to be exercised on a long lead (not extender) to keep her safe, if she was to see something of interest, she would want to take off after it.

From her foster home: Mia is a loving, charismatic, smart, energetic friendly dog. She is ready for her amazing forever home. She does need patience and love and time to settle. She loves to play and walk. She is reactive on walks but just wants to say hello but is still learning to know how to do this calmly. With the support of her behaviourist Mia has learnt lots, she is very much a sniffer dog, she loves walks where she can smell new things and enjoys a game of “Go Find” she loves anything that will reward her, such as puzzles and games.

It is so important that her new carers are totally prepared to keep working with Mia. She has settled really well in her current home environment – this has taken time and patient handling from her foster carers. 6ft fencing/gates required. Dog savvy kids aged 12 years plus. Donation – $300, spayed, fully vacc, chipped, registered, flea/worm treated.

We have an adoption process to match our dogs up to the home that best suits their needs. A property visit will be carried out to ensure safe containment.

Some dogs receive multiple enquiries (we want to ensure we make the best possible match). We may miss getting back to some of you or be late in updating you. Please message us and ask for an update. We are a small team of volunteers and are doing our best.

Give one of our dogs a second chance today, speak to us about the adoption process.
