Tex – Adopted

Tex, 3.5 years old
Heading Dog
Fostered Oamaru

A beautiful natured dog, given a second chance after suffering an injury on a farm. We were contacted by a Vet Clinic to see if we could not only save Tex, but his leg too!  Tex had Pancarpal Arthrodesis surgery on 3 December 2024.

4 months on, Tex had his final xrays today and he has healed beautifully!

His foster carer describes him as:

A gorgeous, goofy, playful, obedient, energetic beautiful boy. He loves to please and wants to love you so much. Very calm in his crate, returns to it straight away after his lead only walk. Loves his food, he’s good with other dogs, not bothered by chickens (but hasn’t been off lead around them).

Seeking an active lifestyle home where he will be a treasured part of the family. He will require good daily exercise/adventures/games. An added bonus would be having some sheep for him to work, but this will not be his main purpose. Tex is house trained and sleeps inside.

Tex is more likely to be arthritic in his old age and needs a home that is happy to ensure all that of his medical needs are met to keep him comfortable as possible.
Thank you so much to Tex’s foster carer who has devoted so much time, effort and care throughout his recovery, it’s not an easy task!

Thank you so much to everyone that contributed towards the cost of Tex’s surgery.
