Tarn
Tarn, 2.5 year old Huntaway
Fostered on a lifestyle property – Oamaru
Video: video1
Tarn’s owner reached out for help as Tarn had “broken his bark” and was no longer able to be a working dog.
A beautiful natured dog! Gaining weight and confidence in adjusting to a pet lifestyle. Arrived a bit stiff/sore, he had a physio session including laser treatment and was then more comfortable. Tarn is very smart and eager to please. Very quick to house train, only had to catch him in the act of raising a leg and give him a gentle “ah-ah”, and he’s been going outside since then. Great recall. He can need a lot of reassurance, and will very quickly shut down if he is fearful. But, once he’s comfortable, you’ll get the dog in the photos: having the time of his life with his first toy, a knotted up ball of old socks!
After 10 days, he has gotten his bark back. He’s been okay home alone with another dog. He ignores chickens, but he’s motivated to work the sheep, just need to keep an eye on him that he doesn’t go off to do this by himself. 🙂 Seeking a loving home on a rural/semi rural property that can provide an enriched, happy life with gentle carers.
Adoption $200. This goes part of the way towards the cost of neuter, vaccinations, micro-chip. Worm, flea treated. We are not for profit and are continuously fundraising to cover costs.
