“I’m a super sweet, slightly spicy boy with a TON of personality. There are lots of things that make me special:
I am very smart (like Lassie, except a bit less helpful)
I am very fast (like a Greyhound, except less pointy)
I am very affectionate (I love pats and will lean, squish and crawl into your lap)
I get along with kids big and small
I have lots of talents – doing tricks, chasing balls (and mostly bringing them back), being good in the car, being a watchdog, tilting my head when you talk to me so it looks like I’m really listening.
I’m a really nice size – not too big and not too small
I’m a busy boy and a lot of fun! I’m also good at settling once I’ve had some physical/mental stimulation. I’m not super needy and can entertain myself with toys and chews.
I can be left at home in my crate and free for short periods. I’m grown up now so no puppy biting, toileting accidents, and crazy destruction from me (I do like to steal socks and nerf bullets though).
I sleep through the night on my dog bed or in my crate (but I’d like to sleep on your bed if I’m allowed).
I currently live with a confident cat and we are good mates (though I might try a cheeky chase if we’re in the garden). I am respectful of my older foster brother (though I wish he’d play more) and can get along with lots of different dogs and people if we’ve been introduced properly.
Even with all these great qualities, I’m not a dog for just anyone!
I have some big feelings that I’m still learning how to manage – when I go out I can get a bit too excited or frustrated so I sometimes bark – it might be just because I’m ready to go! Or sometimes I bark at other dogs (that I can’t get to) and occasionally people (if they need some herding) too. I don’t mean any harm but it can be a bit to handle! My foster mum and I have been working on this and I am getting heaps better but I can still be a bit unpredictable.
My perfect family would have:
A lot of patience and a great sense of humour
Training experience with positive reinforcement — bonus if you like scent work, or agility (I think I’d be great at that)
Active humans that might like a jogging/running/biking buddy
Daytime company so I don’t get bored or lonely
At least one doggy friend (or some kids!) to play with
Lots of cuddles and ball games
A big yard for my daily zoomies
I have so much potential and love to give but need just the right home to really blossom – could it be you?”
$300, neutered, vaccinated, chipped NZCAR, registered, flea/wormed.
We do home out of the district and can arrange property visits. We do not send the dogs away on transporters. Stock fenced properties require a fully secure/safe containment area for no one is at home. Residential – 6ft fencing/gates. Owner occupied homes. Please email us all about your home and why you think that Spot would thrive in your care. poundpawhelp@gmail.com
