Huntaway/Collie. Rural home preferred that has a confident, well socialised dog already in residence. Fostered in Temuka
Her 4 siblings (Harry, Larry, Barry, Carrie) came to us at 12 weeks of age and are all settled in their homes. Rusty seems to be the most lively and energetic out of them all (they were quite laid back).
Rusty hasn’t had the exposure that her siblings experienced, and new things can be scary. She is learning and gaining confidence. It is super important that her new home are fully on board with using fear/force free handling and have a good understanding of dog body language. “Rusty is learning that inside time is calm time, and sleeps all night in her crate, she doesn’t make a peep! She loves our attention and affection. She plays really well with our dogs and happily meets new ones.
She has learnt to love toys and is happy to entertain herself by throwing them around and chewing, which my dogs are happy about as it gives them a break from her energy!
She LOVES little children and enjoys following my 18 month old nephew around. Adult humans can be scary for her – but she learns from my confident dogs as they are happy and excited to see new people and Rusty is very curious about this and wants to meet them in her own time and comes in for a sniff.
She’s also had a lot of interaction with my cat, she’d be fine with a confident cat, might be a different story if one ran but she’s very wary of mine and gives him a wide berth.”
Adoption – $250 – includes neuter, parvo/kennel cough vaccinations, micro-chip, registration, flea/worm.
We have an adoption process to match our dogs up to the home that best suits their needs. A property visit will be carried out to ensure safe containment. 2 week trial period (upon successful completion of adoption process).
