Project Description

Wally

DOB 07/2024
Heading dog (deaf)
Fostered at Winton

Watch:

Wally’s super power is being deaf. He has the most amazing, gentle nature and will reward whoever adopts him with so much love and a lot of laughs. He is a total goofball, who often trips over his own feet whilst playing (his favourite past time).

He enjoys the company of other dogs and would do best in a home with a calm, social adult dog to follow and play with. He takes his social cues from our dogs in new situations to know he is safe. Careful / sensible introductions are needed with new dogs – if he is too much for them and they growl, he will miss this, but he is getting the hang of reading the dogs body language changes.

He is crate trained, house trained and can sit, lie down etc with hand signals (he’s very smart). We are working on recall, using a long line helps to train him to look back and check in with you often. We have had him free roaming at the river at the back of our farm, with the use of a GPS tag as back up but he did great and stayed with our other dogs the whole time.

He’s met adults, teens and young children, he does not jump up and is very gentle with little humans, he just likes to sit beside them and watch them play. Respects the cats space, has been around the cows on the farm and ignores them. Wally will make an amazing addition to an active, dedicated, patient family home.

Foster carer is happy to support whoever adopts him with training techniques.

Adoption process: application form, property visit, vet history check. We do meetings once the adoption process is successfully completed.

$300 – includes neuter, micro-chip (NZCAR), fully vaccinated, registered, flea/worm to date.

We do home out of the district and can arrange property visits. We do not send the dogs away on transporters. Residential properties require 5-6ft fencing/gates. Rural needs to be safe, away from roads and have a fully contained area to leave him when no one is home. Email us about your home and why you think he would thrive in your care.  poundpawhelp@gmail.com
