Project Description

Spot

DOB 1.4.24, Collie mix
Fostered in Christchurch with Lavinia from Adaptive Behaviour.

Watch:

Spot is seeking an experienced home.  He is a clever wee character, a quick learner with loads of personality, but can be a handful as he goes through his teenage phase.  We have had lots of lovely enquiries for him, but he is more than your average family pet, we are looking for someone with a passion to carry on with the training work that his foster carer has put into him.

Spot would do best in a home with a large yard,  kids and another dog to play with. It is likely his energy levels and desire to play will be overwhelming for an older dog.  Given his personality, Spot requires someone that is experienced in positive reinforcement training, is able to understand and meet his specific needs, and is prepared to work through his reactivity and adolescent issues, with a professional if necessary.

He enjoys being around kids, and is quite gentle with them. He is unconcerned by their noise and movement (and is fine with scooters). Spot is respectful and fairly gentle with my cat (though would like to play), any cat would need to be dog confident.

He mixes well with dogs of different sizes and ages if properly introduced. On walks he can get a bit too excited and pulls and will sometimes bark and lunge when he sees dogs he wants to meet (this is a work in progress, and is improving).  He is a keen teenager that can struggle managing his excitement and frustration, but is learning lots of skills to help with this. Spot needs a family that understands this and is able and ready to dedicate time and energy to help him reach his full potential.

House trained and sleeps inside.
$300, neutered, vaccinated, chipped NZCAR, registered, flea/wormed.

We do home out of the district and can arrange property visits. We do not send the dogs away on transporters. Stock fenced properties require a fully secure/safe containment area for no one is at home. Residential properties require 6ft fencing/gates. Owner occupied homes. Please email us all about your home and why you think that Spot would thrive in your care.  poundpawhelp@gmail.com
