It’s super important we find Joey the right forever home as he has some special needs. His new carers need to be fully prepared to carry on with his positive training that his foster Mum and a behaviourist have put in place. He is a very sweet natured young dog, and clever too. He would make a great pet with someone that is calm, gentle, consistent and in a stable home.

Joey is learning to walk nicely on lead. He can be quite easily distracted and anxious about some of the new sights and sounds in town. He also shows strong interest in chasing/herding moving objects (including vehicles). He responded well to training, and comes around if he is given the space and support to watch the world and learn how to behave when out on walks.

Overall Joey is a happy, lovely natured boy that enjoys meeting new people (learning not to jump up). Loves car rides, walks and runs on a longer leash through the forest. Loves playing with his squeaky toy, tug, learning new tricks and working for his food – he knows sit, lie down, shake and other hand, high five, look (I use this to check in during walks) and leave (toys or sticks when it’s not play time). He loves to curl up next to you on the couch.

Good with the other dogs he has met so far (will be doing more introductions). Has met 2 cats and didn’t try to chase them however it’s a different story with birds! Wasn’t bothered by sheep and cows.

Update: I’m confident to say Joey’s separation anxiety is almost non existent now, he is so happy and calm when I’m leaving and arriving, he’s done almost 4 hours alone no problem now, doesn’t whine or bark!!

Adoption – $250 – neutered, fully vaccinated, chipped, registered, flea/worm treated.

We have an adoption process to match our dogs up to the home that best suits their needs. A property visit will be carried out to ensure safe containment. 2 week trial period.
