We are interested to hear from potential foster carers for Jess (Collie x, 7 years old) Needs a dog free home, unless you have an older male dog that is very calm and laid back – like my Davey. Not sure about cats. Someone home at least half the day. Older kids. Gentle home. Jess is lovely on the lead and goes for 2 x 15 minute walks a day. We will provide her food and medication. Prefer someone experienced in caring for arthritic dogs. Currently located Oamaru. Please message us if interested. Thanks.

Further information – 7 June: Recent arrival Jess had xrays today. She has arthritis (moderate) in both hips and Scoliosis in the spine. She is only 7 years old. She is on a diet to lose weight and is having gentle walks only. We are getting bloods done, if they are ok will start her on Trocoxil (they were ok and have started on this). We have already had her on good meds since she arrived and it’s sad as she has still been very sore, you would think she was 12 years plus. Her first owner said she was happy around kids and dogs, but last owner said she was not, this change in behaviour is an indication that the dog is in pain. We will monitor her quality of life carefully during this next pain relief trial.
