Project Description

Gin

UPDATE – Gin is on hold!

Gin, rescued farm dog, 11 months old, Collie (heading dog) approx 20kgs

Located Christchurch

From our volunteer that met her: A timid wee girl, warms up to you if you give her space and let her come to you in her own time. Will need a gentle carer that understands dog behaviour / body language.

Nervous meeting some new dogs. Introduced her to my larger pup that is gentle / socialised. Given time and on her own terms she started to try and play with him.

Overall nice dog, good nature but needs help building confidence. Gin could be good at fun agility, and needs plenty of mental stimulation along with daily exercise / adventures.

From her carer: A very loyal, loving dog. She LOVES walks through the forest and being out in open fields. I let her off lead when there are no other dogs around and she has great recall, but if there are other dogs around she’s all of a sudden deaf and wants to go make friends. When she came to us she knew no commands other than the word ‘no’ but she’s slowly catching on to sit, stay, down. Gin is full of so much energy! She currently needs two separate one hour walks/runs a day, longer if possible.

She’s good with children but can get jumpy when she’s super excited. She adores our cats and will try herd/chase them but they let her know if she’s getting too pushy.

Arrived with inflamed skin, some patches of fur have not re-grown since this has healed. Currently sleeps outside, not housetrained.

Adoption Donation $300 to go towards a part of the cost of her vet care, spayed, vaccinated, chipped, flea/worm treated.
