Project Description

Buddy

*** UPDATE – ON HOLD! ***
Buddy, 1 year old, Labrador mix (Mastiff?)
35kg. Fostered in Dunedin.
Buddy is a big handsome dog and has such a lovely nature, he just wants to be loved, which is so easy to do. He had zero training before arriving. He will need a kind, calm carer with the time and patience to settle him in again and to continue with his training.
Buddy absolutely loves people and other dogs but is still learning his manners. Once he learns to contain his excitement around dogs and people, he will be the best dog ever!
He currently gets a short morning walk, mental stimulation, and a longer afternoon walk. He is also learning to keep himself busy with his toys. He has adjusted well to this routine and is much better at relaxing at home. All he wants is affection and he gets it once he is CALM and sitting. He has started learning to walk on a leash and has made amazing progress. He has responded well to clicker training and will pick things up quickly with the right treat and a patient and calm owner.
Cat – he lives with a very angry and confident cat. Buddy is inquisitive and I’m sure just wants to be friends but the cat can get annoyed easily. Buddy is easily excited and energetic and reacts to the cat if he runs. A cat who has lived with dogs before might be fine.
Buddy loves all people! But he is a jumper (improving). He will need a family with older dog confident children. When he is met with calm and is only rewarded when calm, then he responds well! He has come such a long way with his training, manners and boundaries.
His new family will need to provide daytime human company and be willing to work on his separation anxiety with him so he learns to be okay when by himself.
Adoption – $350. Neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, registered, flea/worm treated.
