* Update – Bert has gone on trial to a lovely home *

Bert, 1 yr old, 35kgs (arrived thin, gaining weight still) Retriever mix.  Came from a farm, advertised as a Huntaway.

Fostered in Oamaru on a lifestyle property.

When Bert first arrived he was very shy and nervous. There was a Bichon at the Vets, he gently reached out for a sniff and wagged his tail. In foster care he is gaining confidence, this is what they have to say:

He’s great, a beautiful natured dog. Very much still a puppy, will climb on top of you for cuddles, needs to have plenty of chew toys. Has big puppy plays with our dog Chewie (they always stop when I take out my phone to film!) no resource guarding. He is a bit anxious, follows us around the house, but he does settle quickly. I can see him going well with kids around 10 years old, who want to run and play with him. He’ll be a big boy!

On the day of his neuter he was patiently and quietly in the kennel, yet he is so friendly and loves to say hello to every one of the nurses and staff when he comes out for toileting.

Seeking a VERY special home that will ensure that Bert feels safe and secure and will help him gain confidence in new environments. He has had a pretty rough start, and we are only looking for the best of homes for a bright future.

$350 Adoption cost to go part way towards neuter, vaccinations, registration, chip. Flea/worm treated.
