MAY

* UPDATE – ON HOLD FOR A NEW HOME *

We are getting a lot of interest in May. The main thing we want (besides a great home) is for someone that will be happy to work on growing her confidence around meeting other dogs. And never expect to take her to a dog park – that would be too much pressure for her. We want someone with a good understanding of dog body language, she is timid and has previously suffered some type of trauma.

2 years old, Huntaway (27kg)

Fostered in Oamaru.

We are only seeking a super special home that can give May the ongoing sensible introductions to other dogs that she needs. She is very nervous when first meeting them, tail between the legs, she may growl, but once she knows the other dog intends no harm, she starts to relax and play. She will be very protective of her carer if a new dog comes onto the property, introductions must be made on neutral territory, with no pressure. It is likely she was previously forced into situations with a large number of dogs, bullied, shut up in small confinements, making her extremely uncomfortable.

Can also be timid and unsure in new surroundings, eg walking at the public gardens, but she is still able to sniff and explore. She has so much potential and is an absolute delight to have around – very loving, happy to potter about with her carer, playing with the other dogs, she is not high energy and enjoys a morning and late afternoon walk. Not a barker. Happily greets new people and is cat, sheep, horse friendly. Kids aged 10 years plus. $250 – spayed, vaccs, chip/reg, worm/flea’d

We have an adoption process to match our dogs up to the home that best suits their needs. A property visit will be carried out to ensure safe containment. 2 week trial period.

Based in Oamaru, North Otago.
Thank you for considering ADOPTION!
