This beautiful big boy came to us from a pound. He has a history of escaping his property and wandering. Mal is looking for an experienced home that is careful and capable with managing a dog with some special needs.
He has hip dysplasia. (on supplements, but no vet meds as yet)
Must have 6ft fencing/gates.
Not to be mixed with entire male dogs.

Mal is a friendly big love bug. He is house trained, sleeps through the night on his bed. On our walks there is a cat that likes to hide in the grass and jump out at us, Mal handles this well, has a sniff and ignores him. He is very good with my elderly neutered dog Davey and he just loves the new foster dog – Lightning (neutered male), they play together really well.

Each morning he grabs his lead in his mouth, and waddles around wagging his tail and whining…. take me for a walk! He goes for 2 walks a day (approx 20 minutes each), lots of sniffing on a horse lunge lead and he happily walks/trots around at his own pace. Can be strong at times, loves food rewards.
We never play fetch or hoon around with other dogs, it’s no good for his hips. The sniff walk and a kong / bone is good mental drainage for him.

We are asking for a donation of $250 towards Mal’s costs. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, chipped, registered, flea/worm treated.

We have an adoption process to match our dogs up to the home that best suits their needs. A property visit will be carried out to ensure safe containment. 2 week trial period.

Based in Oamaru, North Otago
Thank you for considering adoption!
