Jet, Beardie/Huntaway, 4 years old
Fostered Waimate

* UPDATE – ADOPTED *

Jet is fostered on a small deer fenced lifestyle property with other dogs, big and small.  She is good around the sheep and chickens.  Previously lived with a cat.

Jet’s ideal person is someone that is home most of the day, active for walks, calm, and gentle in nature. Whilst Jet much prefers to be with you, she is trustworthy to be left alone inside on those occasions you need her to.

She is quiet in nature, but has a big bark, especially when she’s playing with another dog(s). She is talkative in the way Beardies are known to be, and she tells quite the hilarious yarns at times.

Jet is passive in nature and gets on very well with other dogs. Suited to older dog savvy children – she came with an inclination to jump up to rest her paws on your shoulders, seeking affection/reassurance. Her carer has been working on this, she is doing extremely well, but she will seek assurance in this manner when unsure about something. With consistency in redirection, we are very confident Jet will overcome this habit.

Prior to foster care, Jet would jump 6ft fencing and take herself for a walk. This has not been her foster experience, although Jet spends most of her time with her fosterers, and their dogs. Excellent fencing is required, and having time for Jet is a must.

She knows basic skills, and  heels very well on lead. She is content to snooze by the fire, take naps in the sun, and goes for daily walks. Sleeps inside on her comfy bed. She gets quite anxious in the car and doesn’t really settle. She pants and finds it helpful to have a window down a little. This may alleviate in time as she is very happy to hop in the car.

Jet is a loving, affectionate, gentle soul who will form a very strong bond with the right person. She is not at all demanding, and will do best in a gentle home with affection and time in abundance. Jet just wants to feel loved, and included with someone that has time.
