Baxter

* Baxter came to us from a pound at the start of May. He has special behavioural needs. He will need to have a few meetings with his potential new carers before he leaves our care. Fostered – Dunedin.

5 yr old Maltese / Terrier mix. 6kg.
Cuddle bug, loves nothing more than to be close to you, he will give you a wee nudge if you stop patting too soon.

Baxter does suffer from anxiety, which means meeting new people is all very scary. We believe he was a one person owner with not much socialisation with others. He loves his foster Mum and is finally loving his foster Dad with the help of some medication to make situations with new people not so bad.

Baxter loves his walks, running around the dog park and gets the zoomies on big time. His recall is really good if there is nothing around to spook him, and this will get better with time.

As he loves company, a home with someone home most of the time would be great. He loves other dogs and is always trying to get them to play chasey with him. He doesn’t seem to want to chase cats we meet on our walks.

Baxter sleeps on the bed and is great wee spooner. He is fully house trained. It will take him time to get comfortable and he needs an understanding home which won’t pressure him into anything outside his comfort zone and will take the time to work with him. Adult home only. Secure, gap proof fencing.
